Hopfields opened in November 2011 by Bay and Lindsay Anthon, husband and wife team, to bring to Austin a comfortable and casual yet classy spot to imbibe on high quality craft beers, wines, and cocktails and enjoy homestyle french cooking. As longtime Austinites, Bay and Lindsay felt our city needed a spot that marries comfy with swanky, modern with classic, feminine with masculine, high quality with simplicity. We welcome you to join us for a cozy date night, family brunch anyday, or a burger and beer at the bar while you wait out rush hours.
So, why French food? Lindsay's mother, Connie Zuloaga, comes from a diverse family of American, French and Greek heritage. She spent much of her childhood in France, observing her French grandmother "mémère" and her Greek grandfather, "pépère" in the kitchen preparing modest but high-quality meals for their family of 12. This serves as the inspiration for our menu which is diverse, yet decidedly French - with everything made from scratch in house, the use of local farm-fresh produce, and seasonally appropriate offerings.
So, why craft beer? Owner, Bay Anthon, started his obsession with craft beer over 15 years ago. Naturally, French food marries with wine. We have an exceptional wine program, but we also feel craft beer offers even more dynamic pairings and opportunity for diversity. We love the growth and creativity of the American craft beer scene and we curate a unique, rare, and quality selection of beers. Unapologetically, you'll never see the same tap wall twice.
